On August 23, 1973, a bank robber took hostages at gunpoint inside Stockholm's Kreditbanken. The bank employees found themselves siding with their captor. What began as a well-planned bank heist developed into a complicated hostage crisis with emotions running high. The events grasped the world's attention and created the phenomenon known as Stockholm Syndrome.
